Test Analytes: Total IgG/IgM antibodies for Lyme via EIA. If positive, the test reflexes to Line Blot to confirm test.
Sample Type: Blood
This test detects the antibodies made by your body if it has been infected with Lyme disease (Borrellia burgdorferi). The CDC recommends two level testing for Lyme disease, first to test the antibodies, then if positive, to perform blot testing. Both tests must be positive to confirm the presence of Lyme. This test is typically the initial testing recommendation to evaluate Lyme disease; however, more complex Lyme tests are available through Lyme specialists for people experiencing “chronic Lyme” symptoms.
